The role of Cook at Church's Chicken plays a vital part in maintaining the brand’s quality and operational excellence. Reporting directly to the Restaurant General Manager and working within the Field Operations department, this position is responsible for preparing and cooking food products according to the specifications and procedures outlined in the Church’s Operating Standards Manual (OSM). The Cook ensures that all culinary products meet the expected standards for taste, appearance, and safety, delivering consistently excellent meals. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, adherence to food safety protocols, and efficient time management to accomplish tasks in a clean and orderly manner. The position demands physical endurance and the ability to work on feet for extended periods while handling medium to heavy lifting responsibilities.
Primary functions include setting up the batter table, preparing batter mixes, managing fryer operations such as color balancing and filtering, and cooking all food products as directed by the Manager in Charge of the shift. Secondary duties involve maintaining cleanliness and organization of work areas, ensuring product stock levels, and adhering to sanitation and safety guidelines rigorously. The Cook must be proactive in communicating equipment malfunctions and follow safety procedures to prevent accidents within the kitchen environment.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and 75 pounds occasionally
- capability to stand or walk for up to eight hours
- willingness to adhere to all safety and sanitation guidelines
- ability to handle physical demands including stooping, squatting, reaching, and climbing
- good communication and teamwork skills
- availability to work flexible hours including shifts assigned by manager
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- previous cooking or food preparation experience preferred
- knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- ability to follow detailed operating manuals and procedures
- strong communication skills
- ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Job Duties
- Set up the batter table and prepare batter mix
- ensure call sheets are complete, posted and used
- check all equipment and report malfunctions to Manager in Charge
- color balance fryers and add sufficient shortening to maintain proper level
- filter and clean all fryers at designated times following safety guidelines
- pan sufficient chicken for operational needs
- prepare and cook all food products as directed by Manager in Charge
- ensure all food meets specifications, procedures, and quality standards
- maintain clean work area with clean-as-you-go practices
- verify necessary products and supplies are stocked at batter area
- maintain organization and cleanliness of cooler
- perform other assigned tasks by Manager in Charge of Shift
