The role being offered is that of a Cook, who will directly report to the Restaurant General Manager within the Field Operations department. The Cook will have a vital role in preparing and cooking high-quality food products in accordance with established procedures and standards as specified in Church's Operating Standards Manual (OSM). The position is critical to the smooth daily operation of the restaurant, ensuring that menu items are prepared efficiently, safely, and with consistent quality to meet customer expectations.

This role requires a hands-on approach to food preparation, including setting up the batter station, managing fryer operations, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring compliance with food safety protocols. The Cook will be responsible for tasks such as preparing batter mixes, filtering fryers, cooking chicken products to standard, and ensuring proper holding times are followed. Maintaining workplace organization and sanitation is also a key function, reflecting the company's commitment to delivering safe and enjoyable food experiences.

Physically, the position demands the ability to handle medium to heavy lifting, frequently moving items up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds, along with standing or walking for extended periods. The role involves continuous use of hands and fingers for food preparation, communication with team members and customers, and full awareness of the kitchen environment to maintain safety and operational efficiency.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in food preparation or cooking roles preferred
  • Ability to stand and/or walk on hard floors for up to eight hours
  • Capability to frequently lift and carry weights between 35 to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in food preparation or similar cooking role preferred
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to follow detailed cooking procedures and recipes
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic math skills for measuring ingredients

Job Duties

  • Sets up the batter table, collects all necessary smallwares, and prepares batter mix
  • Ensures that call sheets are complete, posted and used
  • Checks all equipment and immediately reports any malfunctions within the area to the Manager in Charge
  • Color balances fryers and adds sufficient shortening to maintain proper level
  • Filters and cleans all fryers at designated times following safety guidelines
  • Pans sufficient chicken for operational needs
  • Prepares and cooks all food products as per business needs and Manager in Charge directives
  • Ensures all food products meet specifications, procedures and quality standards including designated holding times
  • Maintains a clean work area by practicing clean-as-you-go following sanitation and safety guidelines
  • Verifies all necessary products and supplies are stocked and available at the batter area
  • Maintains organization and cleanliness of the cooler
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by Manager in Charge of Shift
