The University of North Texas (UNT) Dining Services operates as the largest self-supported food service department in North Texas, dedicated to delivering exceptional dining experiences across campus. The role of a Cook in UNT Dining Services is full-time and integral to the success of the department. As a cook, you will be expected to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting while prioritizing food waste reduction. Your core responsibilities include preparing and creating nutritious dishes across various meal periods such as Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Special Events. Attention to detail and customer service are paramount in this role, ensuring that every dish not only meets quality standards but also uplifts the dining experience of those served. Job Requirements

  • 6 months general work experience required
  • Preferably 1-2 years of previous cooking experience beneficial
  • Ability to follow recipes and prepare food accurately

Job Duties

  • Accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and cold food items for various meal periods including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special events
  • Read and follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing various food items
  • May prepare food and serve customers at an a la carte and/or operate an action station
  • Arrive to work and for scheduled shifts on time and reliably
  • Maintain flexible scheduling
  • Perform other duties as assigned depending on business needs
