Job Requirements

  • Prior commercial cooking experience preferred
  • USDA recipes and guidelines experience preferred
  • current Multnomah County Food Handlers Permit or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • experience working within a nonprofit or social services environment preferred
  • prefer an active drivers license, current insurance, and ability to pass our insurers driving standards
  • ability to pass a criminal background check
  • able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs occasionally, stand, bend, walk and reach

Job Qualifications

  • Prior commercial cooking experience preferred
  • USDA recipes and guidelines experience preferred
  • current Multnomah County Food Handlers Permit or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • experience working within a nonprofit or social services environment preferred
  • experienced with cutting tools, cookware and bakeware
  • knowledge of various cooking procedures such as grilling, sautéing, boiling, baking
  • excellent people skills and the ability to develop rapport with clients and others
  • ability to work independently and as a member of a team

Job Duties

  • Prepare large batch meals
  • assist with events and set up in a timely manner so that quality, temperature, and appearance of food are preserved
  • follow production sheets and recipes
  • always maintain a clean kitchen and work area
  • work with kitchen staff to assure quality and great service is provided
  • provide training and support to staff and volunteers
