The Food & Beverage team at Rock City Gardens plays an essential role in delivering a memorable dining experience that reflects the organization’s core values of courage, care, wonder, and excellence. The Cook position within this team is pivotal in ensuring that every food item served meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and presentation. This role requires a skilled and passionate individual who can thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment, working collaboratively with team members to maintain operational efficiency and uphold the values and mission of Rock City Gardens.

As a Food & Beverage Cook at Rock City Gardens, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking menu items according to established recipes and quality guidelines. This position demands attention to detail in portion control, food taste consistency, and food presentation, ensuring every dish served enhances the guests’ experience. The cook will also play a key role in maintaining food safety standards, sanitation compliance, and kitchen cleanliness to support excellent health inspection scores. Maintaining a clean and organized workspace is essential to the smooth flow of kitchen operations.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to provide a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and special events as needed
  • regular use of hands and fingers for food preparation and equipment handling
  • ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching
  • ability to stand for extended periods during shifts

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years of previous experience in food service preferred
  • willingness to receive training and continue skill development
  • willingness to obtain ServSafe Certification
  • ability to read and follow recipes and operational documents
  • strong teamwork skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • ability to display a professional, polite, and engaging image to guests and partners
  • effective verbal communication skills in one-on-one and small group settings
  • basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using units of American money

Job Duties

  • Deliver excellent guest service to internal and external customers in alignment with the organization's mission, culture, and values
  • model appropriate guest and partner interactions at all times, reflecting the Culture of Excellence
  • prepare and cook food according to established menu specifications, quality standards, and presentation guidelines
  • maintain consistency in food quality, taste, and appearance across all menu items
  • monitor portion control and waste to minimize product loss and control food costs
  • follow all health code, food safety, and sanitation standards to maintain excellent health inspection scores
  • assist in monitoring and recording temperature logs for coolers and freezers as required
  • maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times
  • monitor inventory levels, PAR levels, and product needs
  • communicate ordering needs to Senior Team Leaders and the Food & Beverage Manager
  • assist with inventory counts and stock organization as needed
  • support team efforts to maintain overall kitchen cleanliness and organization
  • work collaboratively with kitchen partners to support efficient daily operations
  • follow all company policies and procedures to promote a positive and professional working environment
  • perform other duties as assigned by management
