The Cook II position at Providence Alaska Medical Center plays a vital role in the nutritional care and food service operations of the hospital. This full-time role involves preparing hot and cold food items while strictly following Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) principles to ensure the safety and quality of food served to both patients and non-patients. The Cook II works under the limited supervision of a Food and Nutrition Supervisor or Director and is responsible for preparing required food portions according to scratch recipes and departmental specifications. Job Requirements
- National Food Handler Card - state county city authority upon hire
- Minimum two years of experience in quantity food preparation
- Ability to work night or variable shifts
- Capacity to follow detailed recipes and food safety standards
- Ability to operate various kitchen equipment safely
- Willingness to adhere to Providence's patient-focused care values
- Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Two years of experience in quantity food preparation
- National Food Handler Card required upon hire
- Prior experience in a healthcare or institutional food service setting preferred

- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Vocational training or coursework in culinary arts or food preparation is a plus
