The current opportunity at AdventHealth is for a Culinary Cook working on a per diem (PRN) basis at their Daytona Beach, Florida location. This role is essential in ensuring that patients, retail customers, and catering clients receive meals that meet high standards of quality, taste, and safety. The Culinary Cook will be tasked with preparing a range of meals by following culinary production records, engaging in both short-order and batch cooking. The position also requires advance preparation of ingredients and meals as per operational needs, maintaining cleanliness and adherence to health and safety standards, and managing inventory to minimize waste.
This role does not offer benefits eligibility but does present a competitive hourly pay range of $15.69 to $25.10. The Culinary Cook position involves working day shifts, approximately 1-3 shifts per week, making it a flexible role ideal for individuals seeking supplemental income or those who prefer variable scheduling. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- 1+ foodservice experience in a high-volume culinary production capacity preferred
- Knowledge of cooking methods required
- Able to communicate effectively in English
- Knowledge about working in the food industry
- Ability to cook precisely and efficiently and multi-task under pressure
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
- Good oral communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to perform basic math functions
- Creativity in food preparation and service
- Flexibility in scheduling hours including availability for overtime, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and write simple correspondence
- Ability to present information effectively to customers and team members
- Mathematical skills to perform calculations with American money, measurements, and volumes
- Reasoning ability for standardized situations

Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred
- 1+ foodservice experience in a high volume culinary production capacity preferred

- Ability to operate standard office machines such as fax, copier, calculator, and mail machines
Job Duties
- Prepare patient, retail, and catering meals by following culinary production records including short-order and batch cooking
- Execute advance prep tasks by reviewing pull sheets and organizing ingredients for upcoming service periods and high-volume production needs
- Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment ensuring all equipment and surfaces meet health standards and record temperatures according to regulatory requirements
- Manage inventory by sorting, labeling, dating, and rotating stock to support food safety and minimize waste
- Collaborate with managers and team members to meet operational goals, communicate needs, and support efficient food service delivery
- Perform other duties as assigned
