The Cook position at Intermountain Health's St George Regional Hospital involves performing a variety of food production duties under general supervision within a healthcare setting. This role is classified as PRN, meaning it is an on-call or as-needed employment opportunity, offering flexibility for individuals who prefer non-standard work schedules. The pay rate for this position ranges from $19.31 to $25.11 per hour, depending on experience, reflecting the organization's commitment to competitive compensation. The working shifts are scheduled between 11:00 am to 7:30 pm and 12:00 pm to 8:30 pm, with availability required every day from Sunday through Saturday. Although this position is not currently benefits eligible, it offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in a healthcare culinary environment.

The main responsibilities include preparing and cooking food, serving customers, and adhering to recipes or instructions during food preparation. The cook may also be involved in preparing bulk food items or specialty meals, including catering services. Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in the working environment is essential, as well as proper inventory control through product rotation. Interaction with customers can occur in various service venues such as catering events, retail outlets, or directly with patients. Additional duties could include delivering patient meals, cashiering, stocking supplies, and operating both automatic and manual dishwashing equipment.

This role demands strong skills in food handling, safety, and sanitation along with an ability to follow cooking instructions and recipes precisely. Communication and organizational skills are also crucial due to frequent customer interactions and the need to coordinate food preparation activities efficiently.
