This position involves a variety of volume food preparation tasks with an emphasis on planning and organization to ensure efficient kitchen operations. The Cook plans cooking schedules and oversees the work of kitchen assistants and aides, ensuring that meals are prepared and served following established menus, physician orders, and dietary needs. Attention to detail is critical in maintaining food safety standards, including preparing meals at proper temperatures and documenting these consistently. Additionally, the Cook plays a key role in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment to meet health and safety guidelines.

Job Duties

  • Plans daily cooking schedule to meet deadlines and follows standardized recipes
  • directs the work of assistants and aides in a professional manner
  • prepares and serves meals per menus, physician orders, resident preferences, and therapeutic diet spreadsheet
  • assures food is served at proper temperatures and records these temperatures
  • makes proper food substitutions within food groups as directed
  • serves food on tray line at mealtime
  • cleans, sanitizes, and covers kitchen equipment and follows listed cleaning assignments
  • prepares for the following day's menu
  • adheres to all policies and procedures
  • other duties as assigned
