The Staff member plays a vital role in supporting Lifepoint Health’s commitment to excellent patient care by participating in the preparation and serving of quality food. This position involves handling texture modified and therapeutic diets in strict accordance with the facility’s menu standards. The role requires adherence to proper receiving, storage, preparation, serving, sanitation, and cleaning procedures to maintain food safety and hygiene at the highest standards. Staff are responsible for cleaning work, serving, and dining areas to support a clean and safe environment that meets all health department regulations. Collaboration with Dietary Managers and Registered Dietitians is essential to ensure menus meet patient-specific nutritional needs.

Beyond food preparation, this position demands a comprehensive understanding and compliance with hospital policies, codes of conduct, confidentiality guidelines such as HIPAA, and standards related to professionalism and teamwork. Staff must maintain a respectful and positive attitude when interacting with patients, visitors, and co-workers. Excellent customer service skills are paramount to the role, including the ability to listen effectively to patient concerns and provide superior service while maintaining therapeutic boundaries.

The role’s accountability expectations include consistent attendance, responsible time-off management, participation in departmental meetings, and pride in work with an eagerness to exceed minimum job requirements. This position may require flexibility with hours, including overtime as needed. Candidates with food safety or sanitation certifications and hospital experience are preferred, though not mandatory. A valid driver's license is also preferred. Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Collaborates with the dietary manager and registered dietician for menus and patient specific needs
  • keeps and rotates food/consumables stored per health department and hospital guidelines
  • maintains accurate HACCP programs and checks food temperatures from delivery through consumption
  • practices sanitation and food safety guidelines for appropriate food handling procedures
  • ensures all dishes and food preparation utensils are cleaned according to safety and sanitation guidelines
