The establishment also features unique dining and social experiences including the Fascinator Wine Bar and Trophy Bourbon & Cigars Bar, providing diverse beverage options for guests. For sports fans, there is a lively sports bar that hosts live entertainment on most weekends, ensuring an engaging environment for visitors. Additionally, a Kentucky Derby Gift Shop is part of the venue, offering guests a special retail experience that complements the iconic Kentucky Derby atmosphere. The role of Prep Cook at Derby City Gaming Downtown is crucial to maintaining the high standards of food preparation and guest service that the establishment is committed to delivering. As a Prep Cook, the individual will be responsible for safely preparing food items according to menu specifications and standardized recipes. This role involves working closely with the kitchen Leadership Team and requires adaptability to support various outlets within the venue. Key responsibilities include assisting in preparing pantry and hot line items, adhering strictly to food safety and sanitation standards as mandated by Local, State, and Federal Health Department codes, and supporting daily specials. The Prep Cook must also ensure proper food storage and labeling while contributing to maintaining a clean and sanitary workspace.
The position emphasizes teamwork, communication, and trust among staff to provide flawless service execution and outstanding guest relations. It requires the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment utilizing strong organizational skills and a commitment to quality and safety standards. Physical requirements involve frequent movement including standing, sitting, walking, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Given the dynamic environment, Prep Cooks must be comfortable navigating noise and activity while maintaining attention to detail. Applicants must hold a High School Diploma or GED equivalency with one to two years of related experience preferred, and be able to obtain a valid Racing License and complete any necessary certifications or training. Job Duties
- Create and ensure a fun-filled, entertaining and exciting environment where service excellence is paramount
- Prepare food as directed by chef or shift leader according to recipe specifications
- Follow standardized recipes and presentation procedures accurately
- Assist in preparation of pantry and hot line items for daily service
- Properly store and label all food products
- Perform related duties in assigned stations or outlets
