Job Description

Plum Market Food Service is a prominent food service provider specializing in preparing and delivering high-quality meals in specialized locations such as airports and travel hubs. Known for its commitment to fresh ingredients and exceptional guest service, Plum Market Food Service operates with a focus on creating a seamless food experience for travelers, ensuring that each visitor receives not only great-tasting meals but also prompt and friendly service. Their location at Eppley Airfield serves a diverse clientele, catering to the unique needs of individuals on the go, such as travelers searching for quality meals that fit their schedules and dietary preferences. The company prides itself on maintaining rigorous standards related to food safety, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction, which has helped them build a renowned reputation within the airport food service industry.

The role of Cook at Plum Market Food Service at Eppley Airfield is integral to delivering the high-quality food offerings the company is known for. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with scheduled hours primarily from 12pm to 8pm, five days a week with a set schedule, although the days worked may vary between Monday and Sunday to accommodate operational needs. The cook is responsible for preparing food items in accordance with established recipes, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines, ensuring each dish meets the company’s consistently high standards. Attention to detail is critical, as is the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment that sees a high volume of guests, many of whom are traveling and require quick but quality meal service. The collaborative nature of the role requires working closely with kitchen colleagues as well as the front-of-house team to coordinate food preparation and service during shifts.

Beyond cooking, the position requires maintaining a clean and organized work area at all times, following strict health, sanitation, and safety procedures including proper food handling and storage protocols. The cook also participates in restocking and rotating food supplies to keep the kitchen well-prepared throughout the shift and promptly communicates any equipment or food supply concerns to the supervisor. Additionally, opening and closing duties such as cleaning and preparation tasks form an essential part of the job responsibilities. Candidates who thrive in this role are dependable, manage their time effectively, and adapt well to varying work schedules including weekends and holidays. Preferred candidates will have prior experience in a kitchen or food preparation role, basic knowledge of cooking techniques, and food safety practices, with ServSafe or an equivalent certification being an added advantage. Working at an airport location provides a dynamic work environment that combines the demand for speedy service with stringent food safety and quality requirements, making this role ideal for those passionate about culinary arts and customer service in a unique setting.
