Job Description

Adventist Health White Memorial Montebello is a longstanding healthcare provider located in the heart of Montebello, California. With a 70-year history of serving the local community, this institution is part of the larger Adventist Health system, a faith-based, nonprofit integrated health network known for delivering quality care across more than 100 communities on the West Coast and Hawaii. Adventist Health White Memorial Montebello specifically includes a 192-bed hospital, a specialized wound care medical office, and comprehensive surgical and laboratory services. This facility is situated in the culturally rich and diverse greater Los Angeles area, an environment celebrated for its art, sports, and world-renowned dining experiences, making it an exciting place to work and live.

The role of Food Service Worker at Adventist Health White Memorial Montebello is an essential position within the hospital’s food and nutrition department. This role is primarily responsible for preparing food for patients, staff, visitors, and special catered events while adhering to strict food production standards and safety procedures. Food Service Workers contribute to the smooth operation of the kitchen by cleaning, dishwashing, and sanitizing dishware and equipment and assisting in the oversight of kitchen and facility operations. This position ensures dietary needs are met and food is produced and served in an efficient, sanitary, and timely manner.

In this role, a Food Service Worker must be skilled in preparing a variety of meals, utilizing different kitchen utensils and equipment such as blenders, mixers, grinders, slicers, and tenderizers. The job requires careful planning and execution to ensure meals are ready at specified times, meet quality standards in taste and appearance, and maintain cleanliness throughout the food preparation process. Additionally, this position plays a part in previewing menus and work orders to determine ingredient quantities and managing inventory levels to maintain a fully stocked kitchen. The Food Service Worker also has opportunities to assist in training new personnel, fostering a collaborative and effective kitchen team environment.

Given its setting in a busy hospital environment, this role demands adherence to critical safety guidelines, including hospital fire and life safety requirements and health regulations, including the necessity for specific certifications such as SERV Safe. Adventist Health is committed to the safety and well-being of both its patients and staff; thus, the Food Service Worker must comply with vaccination mandates and other organizational safety protocols.

The position offers a chance to be part of a compassionate team dedicated to inspiring health, wholeness, and hope for the community through excellent service and care. Adventist Health’s mission is grounded in living God’s love by inspiring health, wholeness, and hope, providing employees with an enriching work atmosphere supported by faith-based values and a commitment to excellence. Working as a Food Service Worker in this vibrant and respected healthcare setting allows individuals to contribute meaningfully to patient care beyond the medical treatment by enhancing patient experiences through quality nutrition and hospitality services. The role is suited for those with a passion for food service and patient care, seeking a stable employment opportunity in a reputable and purpose-driven organization.
