Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • culinary school education and/or experience in full-service restaurant settings
  • knowledge of proper food preparation and cooking methods
  • ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment and utensils
  • understanding of food safety and sanitation standards
  • basic inventory management skills
  • ability to work under general supervision
  • effective communication and teamwork skills
  • availability for part-time hours
  • willingness to join and pay dues to the union as this is a union position

Job Qualifications

  • Culinary school and/or experience working in a full service restaurant
  • knowledge of proper preparation and cooking methods for a wide variety of food items
  • familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment and utensils
  • understanding of sanitation and safety methods for food preparation and handling
  • basic inventory controls
  • effective leadership skills
  • ability to cook and bake food in large quantities
  • ability to operate commercial equipment and utensils
  • ability to understand recipes and menus
  • ability to evaluate and determine food condition, doneness, and decorations
  • ability to understand and carry out instructions
  • ability to keep simple records
  • experience supervising and training kitchen helpers

Job Duties

  • Serves orders for food and beverages
  • prepares and cooks menu items and other dishes
  • follows food orders
  • portions, arranges, and garnishes food
  • may coordinate and supervise other food service employees
  • may serve food at food stands and perform cashier duties
