Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- culinary school education and/or experience in full-service restaurant settings
- knowledge of proper food preparation and cooking methods
- ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment and utensils
- understanding of food safety and sanitation standards
- basic inventory management skills
- ability to work under general supervision
- effective communication and teamwork skills
- availability for part-time hours
- willingness to join and pay dues to the union as this is a union position
Job Qualifications
- Culinary school and/or experience working in a full service restaurant
- knowledge of proper preparation and cooking methods for a wide variety of food items
- familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment and utensils
- understanding of sanitation and safety methods for food preparation and handling
- basic inventory controls
- effective leadership skills
- ability to cook and bake food in large quantities
- ability to operate commercial equipment and utensils
- ability to understand recipes and menus
- ability to evaluate and determine food condition, doneness, and decorations
- ability to understand and carry out instructions
- ability to keep simple records
- experience supervising and training kitchen helpers
Job Duties
- Serves orders for food and beverages
- prepares and cooks menu items and other dishes
- follows food orders
- portions, arranges, and garnishes food
- may coordinate and supervise other food service employees
- may serve food at food stands and perform cashier duties
