We are currently seeking a dedicated Cook to join our team. In this vital role, the Cook is responsible for preparing appetizing and nutritious meals tailored to the specific needs of our residents. The Cook also assists the Executive Chef in managing daily food service functions, ensuring that all food is prepared and served in compliance with safety and sanitation standards. This position requires someone who can maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment within the kitchen and dining areas. It demands physical endurance, as standing, walking, bending, and lifting are routine parts of the job. Additionally, the Cook should possess strong verbal communication skills and be able to work effectively with the elderly, including those living with dementia. This role is not only about preparing meals but also about delivering care and comfort through food, enhancing the overall resident experience.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and squat for prolonged periods
  • ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
  • possess a food service sanitation certificate according to State or local regulations
  • previous experience in food preparation required
  • basic reading and writing skills
  • ability to speak English effectively
  • experience working with elderly and dementia patients preferred

Job Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in food preparation
  • knowledge and experience working with elderly residents
  • experience with dementia patients preferred
  • food service sanitation certificate as per State or local requirements
  • basic reading and writing skills
  • ability to speak English in an understandable manner
