Job Description

Panorama is a well-established organization dedicated to providing exemplary food services through its robust Food Services department. Currently, the department is seeking a committed part-time Cook to join its team. The position offers approximately 24 hours per week with the scheduling tailored flexibly to meet operational needs, requiring open availability to accommodate varying shifts each week. Panorama’s Food Services cater to a diverse clientele, including patrons of the Seventeen51 Restaurant and Convalescent & Rehabilitation Center, as well as residents in its Assisted Living facilities. This role is pivotal in ensuring that meals served meet high standards of quality, taste, and presentation, reflecting the organization’s commitment to culinary excellence and resident satisfaction.

The Part-Time Cook position involves preparing and cooking meals listed on multiple menus – ranging from daily breakfasts, lunches, and dinners to special event and banquet selections. The successful candidate will be responsible not only for routine food preparation but also for occasional catered event meals, requiring flexibility and attention to detail. Preparation must adhere strictly to recipes, policies, and procedures to maintain consistency and quality across all services. More than just a cook, this person helps create an inviting dining experience for restaurant patrons as well as residents within the assisted living community.

In addition to meal preparation, the candidate will operate various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently while helping maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workspace that complies with both company and regulatory health standards. The role also includes providing daily supervision and guidance to prep cooks, assisting in training initiatives, and promoting cross-training where appropriate, ensuring a cohesive and knowledgeable team environment. Collaboration and communication are essential, as the cook will participate in department meetings and work closely with colleagues to identify goals, solve problems, and celebrate successes.

The ideal candidate will possess not only culinary skills but also a customer-service oriented mindset, demonstrating courtesy, friendliness, and helpfulness to residents, coworkers, and visitors alike. A valid Washington State Food Handlers permit and two or more years of experience in food preparation and cooking are mandatory. Formal culinary training is highly preferred, underscoring the department’s emphasis on professionalism and expertise.

This part-time opportunity with flexible hours and a vital role within Panorama’s food services makes it an excellent position for an experienced cook passionate about creating delightful meals and contributing positively to a team-driven environment that values quality and community impact.
