The community fosters a dynamic workplace culture that emphasizes collaboration, growth, and professional development. The employment type for this position typically includes full-time opportunities with competitive compensation, designed to attract skilled professionals in the food service sector within healthcare settings.
The role available at Bloom at Belfair is that of a Cook, a critical position responsible for preparing and cooking food for the community's residents. The Cook will follow established sanitation, safety, and dietary procedures to ensure the highest quality meals tailored to the nutritional needs of seniors. Working side by side with ownership and on-site leadership, this role offers not only professional responsibilities but also the chance to participate both professionally and monetarily in the community's growth. As part of a fast-growing company, the Cook will be involved in a dynamic team environment where adaptability and adherence to health standards are essential.
This role involves preparing food in specified quantities according to menus and recipes, making necessary dietary substitutions, and maintaining detailed documentation. The Cook is also responsible for transporting food items across various workstations, preparing plates from the steam table, distributing supplies and utensils, and ensuring cleanliness in the cooking and dining areas. Responsibilities extend to washing equipment, managing garbage disposal, food storage, and monitoring refrigerator and freezer temperatures with accurate record-keeping. Compliance with federal, state, and health care safety standards is mandatory, along with participation in required in-service training and meetings.
Supervisory duties include occasional oversight of Dietary Aides and Dishwashers as directed by the Dietary or Food Service Director. The role requires the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively, apply commonsense reasoning to tasks, and uphold organizational policies and safety procedures. The Cook must demonstrate flexibility in handling changes and unexpected events, organize work activities efficiently, and maintain punctuality and professionalism.
Working in a kitchen environment at Bloom at Belfair entails exposure to various physical conditions, including heat, humidity, and noise typical of commercial kitchens. The role demands physical capability to perform tasks such as lifting, standing, and moving kitchen equipment safely. The Cook will use standard kitchen tools like pots, pans, utensils, stoves, ovens, broilers, steamers, fryers, and other specialized equipment in daily food preparation activities.
This comprehensive position is ideal for individuals with a minimum of one year of food preparation experience, preferably within long-term care or hospital settings, and a strong commitment to the health and satisfaction of senior residents. Joining Bloom at Belfair means becoming part of a supportive, fast-growing company focused on enhancing residents' lives through excellent culinary services and teamwork.
