Job Description

Panorama is a well-established health services provider dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for its residents through exceptional food services and care. The organization operates a comprehensive Food Services department that serves a diverse clientele including residents at the Seventeen51 Restaurant and Convalescent & Rehabilitation Center, residents in Assisted Living, and patrons attending catered events and banquets. Panorama is currently seeking a part-time Cook to join their Food Services team. This valuable position requires an individual who can work approximately 24 hours per week with open availability, as scheduled shifts may vary week to week. The cook will be responsible for preparing and cooking meals that are featured on the Seventeen51 Restaurant menu, as well as special menu items for catered functions, banquets, and residents in Assisted Living when necessary. The role is pivotal in maintaining food quality, adhering to recipe guidelines, and ensuring timely service, thereby contributing to the overall positive dining experience for residents and guests.

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, demonstrating culinary skills that range from preparing breakfasts, lunches, and dinners to handling a wide variety of general-ethnic menu items. This position not only involves the hands-on preparation and cooking of food but also provides daily supervision and direction for prep cooks. The role supports training and cross-training efforts within the team to foster a cohesive workforce. Maintaining a sanitary, organized kitchen environment while strictly observing food safety standards and company policies is essential to this role.

  • Formal training in food preparation and cooking strongly preferred
  • Valid Washington State Food Handlers permit
  • Minimum 2 years experience in food preparation and cooking
  • Experience and willingness to perform any function within the food service department up to and including cook

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner in a timely manner following outlined recipes, policies and procedures
  • Prepare and cook a wide variety of general-ethnic menu items following outlined recipes and standard portions, including entrees and/or accompaniments ordered from the restaurant menu, special events and banquets
  • Coordinate final preparation of menu items ordered per table for timely delivery to diners
  • Operate various kitchen equipment in the preparation of food stuffs and menu items
  • Provide daily supervision and direction to prep cooks, assist in the preparation of menu items
  • Assist in training and cross-train employees as appropriate
  • Maintain a sanitary and organized environment and follow high sanitation standards
  • Comply with department policies covering all aspects of food service including safe food handling, sanitation, food wastage, and company policies
  • Attend and participate in Department meetings working as a team
  • Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness and helpfulness to residents, workers, potential residents, and the general public as a Panorama representative
