Currently, the Birmingham Area Command is hiring for a Part-Time Cook position based in Birmingham, AL, offering a pay rate of $12 per hour. This role is essential to the daily operations of the organization as it directly affects the well-being of numerous individuals relying on the facility for their meals. The dining hall operates seven days a week from 5:00 am to 7:30 pm, requiring flexible availability from its kitchen staff to meet the demands of serving multiple meals throughout the day. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, preparing, cooking, and serving nutritious meals and snacks in accordance with established guidelines. The kitchen prepares around 250 to 300 meals daily, encompassing breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This requires efficiency, attention to detail, and a commitment to food safety standards to ensure meals are not only healthy but also safe and presentable.

In addition to meal preparation, the Part-Time Cook will maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, including cleaning equipment, appliances, and kitchen facilities, and managing inventory supplies in an orderly manner to support smooth kitchen operations. This role requires coordination with kitchen assistants and other staff members to maintain consistent service quality. Candidates must obtain ServSafe Certification within 21 days of hire and comply with all applicable state and local regulations concerning food safety certifications.
