This specific opportunity is for a part-time Cook position located in Dallas Center Grimes at 2405 West 1st Street, Grimes, IA 50111. The role offers a competitive pay range between $16.00 and $18.00 per hour, with an internal employee referral bonus available, encouraging team members to bring talented colleagues into the fold. As a Cook at Chartwells K12, you will play an essential role in preparing food that meets federal, state, and corporate standards while ensuring quality, taste, presentation, and food safety. Job Requirements

  • Previous kitchen experience preferred
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 1:30 pm

Job Duties

  • Prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery and service schedules
  • Serves meals or prepares for delivery by using correct portioning, meeting outlined standards, ensuring that food is at the correct temperature and is attractive and tasty
  • Uses established ticket collection procedures during service and maintains accurate records for the area worked
  • Cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness
  • Stores or discards excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures
  • Keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat, ensuring food and supply items are stored per standards
  • Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed
  • Assists in production planning, record keeping, and reporting
  • Assists in ordering and receiving food and supplies
  • Reports maintenance issues or accidents immediately
  • Attends in-service and safety meetings
  • Maintains good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators, and managers
  • Performs job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment
  • Ensures proper presentation, portion control, and maintenance of serving temperatures
  • Follows HACCP standards
  • Maintains a personal commitment to safety
  • Abides by company policies and procedures concerning safety equipment and proper lifting techniques
