The role offered is a Food Preparation position located at the iconic Central Park Boathouse, an esteemed landmark with a history spanning over 150 years. Initially established as a place for rowboat rentals, the Boathouse has since evolved into a renowned restaurant and event space that caters to millions of visitors each year. This position is responsible for preparing and cooking food items with the highest standards of taste and appearance to satisfy guests and drive food revenue.

This role encompasses working closely with the culinary management team and adhering to stringent health and sanitation protocols. Key responsibilities include maintaining food at proper temperatures, ensuring appropriate rotation and labeling of products, utilizing correct utensils and portions, and rigorously keeping the workspace clean and organized. The role emphasizes timely and accurate food preparation while maintaining close communication with management regarding inventory and quality. Flexibility is required to work across multiple kitchen stations and assist with restocking supplies as necessary.

Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • 6 months+ experience in food preparation in a fast-paced environment
  • ability to follow written and oral direction

Job Duties

  • work within the guidelines set forth by the culinary management team
  • observe and practice all established health and sanitation procedures
  • ensure all products are prepared, held and served at correct temperatures
  • ensure the proper rotation, labeling and dating of all products
  • always use the proper utensils and portions at all times
  • keep work area clean, sanitized, and organized
  • keep management informed of food quantities and quality in prep, on the line and in holding cabinets
  • coordinate to ensure food items are cooked timely and with accuracy
  • assist with re-stocking of all paper supplies and food items as needed
  • assist other positions when needed
  • perform all opening and closing procedures as indicated in the Employee Training Manual
  • may be assigned to work multiple stations throughout the shift
  • implement and follow sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness and maintenance of kitchen and/or serving areas
  • ensure compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations
  • perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required from time to time
