Job Description
Marriott International is a globally renowned hospitality company revered for its extensive portfolio of brands and a steadfast commitment to delivering unparalleled guest experiences. One of its distinguished properties, the Torrance Marriott Redondo Beach, is nestled in the vibrant city of Torrance, California. This hotel offers guests luxury accommodations, exceptional dining experiences, and a welcoming ambiance that mirrors Marriott's longstanding tradition of excellence in hospitality. Marriott International prides itself on fostering an inclusive, diverse, and supportive work environment, ensuring that associates from all backgrounds feel valued and empowered. The company’s culture emphasizes professional growth, holistic well-being, and a collaborative atmosphere where every team member can thrive.
The Torrance Marriott Redondo Beach is currently seeking dedicated Culinary Associates to join its dynamic Food and Beverage team. This full-time, non-management position plays an integral role in preparing and delivering high-quality culinary offerings to guests while maintaining the impeccable standards that Marriott is known for. The hourly pay is set at $30.48, reflecting the company’s commitment to fair compensation for its valued associates.
As a Culinary Associate, individuals will engage in a variety of kitchen tasks including the preparation of ingredients through portioning, chopping, and proper storage. They will handle fresh produce by washing and peeling fruits and vegetables and accurately measure and mix ingredients to create delicious dishes. A keen attention to detail is required to ensure that food preparation meets established recipes, quality benchmarks, and presentation standards. Operative tasks will include the use of kitchen appliances such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers. Testing food for proper cooking and monitoring overall quality is crucial to uphold guest satisfaction.
The role also demands maintaining a clean and organized workstation, which includes setting up before shifts and breaking down after service, as well as thoroughly cleaning kitchen areas and equipment. Temperature checks of appliances and food safety measures are integral components of the Associate’s responsibilities. The position requires adherence to safety and security policies, reporting any maintenance or safety concerns, and completion of mandatory safety training and certifications.
Beyond the technical culinary skills, the role places a strong emphasis on professional conduct, clear communication, confidentiality, and teamwork. Culinary Associates are expected to build positive rapport with coworkers and contribute to a cooperative environment that drives team success. Physical demands include standing or walking for extended periods, bending, twisting, lifting up to 25 pounds, and other movements necessary for efficient kitchen operation.
Marriott International’s culinary training partnership with Rouxbe Cooking School provides Associate employees access to comprehensive online culinary courses. This unique partnership enhances career development opportunities by offering visually engaging and expertly crafted lessons designed to improve culinary skills at any experience level.
Marriott International is an equal opportunity employer committed to creating an accessible work environment free from discrimination. The company actively supports inclusion and celebrates the diverse backgrounds of its workforce. For culinary professionals seeking a rewarding career in hospitality with a globally respected leader, the Culinary Associate position at the Torrance Marriott Redondo Beach represents a chance to grow, learn, and excel within a supportive community dedicated to excellence and innovation.
