The Patina Restaurant Group is currently seeking experienced Cooks to join their team specifically for the PGA Championships, a high-profile multi-day event that demands exceptional culinary skills and a commitment to quality and teamwork. This temporary role entails working a comprehensive schedule from May 10th through May 17th, with varying shift times starting early in the morning and lasting up to 10 hours a day. Candidates should be able to commit to the full schedule and demonstrate punctuality and reliability to qualify for an additional completion bonus.

As a Cook within this dynamic event environment, individuals will be required to meticulously prepare food items according to recipes and food production standards, ensuring each dish meets the highest standards of quality and taste. The role involves handling multiple kitchen equipment types such as knives, slicers, whips, pots, pans, warmers, steamers, grills, and ovens. Food safety and sanitation will be paramount, with responsibilities including proper portioning and measuring of ingredients to comply with standard recipes and department guidelines. The Cook must maintain proper food storage temperatures and ensure freshness and quality of all menu items are upheld throughout service.

Working within a fast-paced, busy kitchen setting, the Cook will take charge of organizing and sanitizing their workstation, equipment, and cold storage areas while also managing waste control processes, including completing spoilage documentation. End-of-day procedures such as inventory management and cleaning tasks will also form an integral part of this role.

To be successful in this position, candidates must showcase strong teamwork skills, adaptability to changing demands, and a passion for culinary arts. Prior experience in a back-of-house foodservice role is required to handle the rigors and complexities of event-based food preparation. Job Requirements

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to chop, mix, blend, whip etc a variety of foods and liquids
  • Ability to lift and carry large pans, weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to handle and/or operate all kitchen equipment in a safe manner
  • Standing and walking for entire length of shift
  • Frequently required to reach up to 6-7 feet, twist at waist, bending and squatting
  • Pushing and pulling occasionally, to move equipment, mops, and brooms
  • Kitchen environment - noise levels may be moderate-to-high
  • Works frequently in a hot and damp environment

Job Qualifications

  • At least 6 months previous experience in back-of-the-house foodservice position required
  • Ability to read and comprehend prep sheets and recipes
  • Basic math skills, ability to understand, calculate and follow recipe measurements and proportions
  • Available leading up to and during the event

Job Duties

  • Prepares food to specifications before and during the event
  • Properly measures and portions all food items
  • Utilizes kitchen equipment to prepare food items such as knives, slicers, whips, pots, pans, warmers, steamers, grills, ovens
  • Ensures proper food temperatures are maintained and food is stored correctly
  • Keeps workstation, coolers, and equipment clean, organized, sanitized, and sufficiently stocked
  • Follows and upholds all health codes and sanitation regulations
  • Uses waste control guidelines and records all waste on spoilage sheet
  • Completes end of day inventory and other opening/closing duties in accordance with checklists and procedures
  • Performs other duties assigned
