Job Description

Intermountain Health is a renowned healthcare organization known for its comprehensive medical services and commitment to patient well-being. Among its many innovative approaches, Intermountain Health distinguishes itself by integrating culinary excellence into its hospital nutrition services. Unlike typical hospital food services, Intermountain employs a team of professional chefs, culinary leaders, cooks, and nutrition care associates who bring a hotel and restaurant-quality dining experience to their healthcare facilities. Their cafeterias and catering events mirror upscale hospitality environments, focusing on a guest-centric culture where patients and caregivers receive nutritious, high-quality meals prepared with care and culinary skill.

This dedication to quality food as a vital component of medicine reflects Intermountain's holistic approach to healthcare. Their nutrition services are not just about feeding patients but enhancing recovery, satisfaction, and overall health outcomes through well-prepared meals that cater to various dietary needs and preferences. The variety of cooking roles offered at Intermountain spans across multiple settings including retail food outlets, room service, catering operations, grill cooking, and display cooking, providing dynamic opportunities for culinary professionals to grow and make a meaningful impact.

The role being offered at Intermountain Health Utah Valley Hospital is primarily a PRN (pro re nata or as needed) position, designed for professionals who can work flexible shifts ranging from mornings to evenings across all days of the week. The pay rate is competitive and based on experience, ranging from $19.31 to $25.11 per hour. This position requires availability for shifts mainly scheduled from Wednesday through Sunday, from 12:00 pm to 8:30 pm, working 8-hour shifts.

The position entails performing a variety of food production duties under general supervision. These include preparing and cooking food according to standardized recipes and instructions, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and ensuring appropriate food quantities and product rotation. The role demands interaction with customers, whether in retail settings, patient care, or catering environments. The ability to deliver meals to patients, process cash transactions, stock supplies, and operate both automatic and manual ware-washing equipment are also key job functions.

Intermountain Health emphasizes food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling techniques as central to this role. Candidates will find opportunities to expand their skills in large-scale food production, specialty meal assembly, and bulk food preparation. The organization's culture values employees who can work independently as well as collaboratively in teams, who communicate effectively, and who can prioritize tasks under various deadlines.

Although this position is PRN and not eligible for benefits, working at Intermountain Health means being part of a team dedicated to improving lives through innovative health services and exceptional patient care supported by culinary expertise. Intermountain Health maintains a strong commitment to equal opportunity employment, welcoming candidates from diverse backgrounds and ensuring a fair recruitment process supported by AI-enabled tools that respect applicant privacy and data protection.
