The Cook position is an on-call opportunity with a fixed pay rate of $17.00 per hour, featuring a flexible schedule that may vary by day and includes rotating weekends. This role is ideal for individuals with previous experience in customer service, food service, and cooking who are looking to contribute to a meaningful mission while working in a dynamic and supportive environment. The position emphasizes preparing and serving food in accordance with federal, state, and corporate standards, ensuring quality, safety, and presentation in every meal served. As a Cook, you will play an essential role in meeting production and delivery schedules using standardized recipes and portion controls to guarantee meal quality and adherence to HACCP food safety standards. Key responsibilities include operating kitchen equipment, maintaining clean and safe kitchen environments, storing food and supplies properly, assisting with inventory and ordering, and participating in safety and all-staff meetings. The role also demands a strong sense of personal safety awareness and adherence to company policies and procedures designed to maintain a safe workplace.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • previous experience in customer service, food service, and cooking required
  • ability to work on an on-call schedule including rotating weekends

Job Duties

  • Prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production schedules
  • serves meals or prepares for delivery using correct portioning and maintains food at the correct temperature
  • tastes all prepared food items to ensure quality
  • uses established ticket collection procedures during service
  • cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness
  • stores or discards excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures
  • operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed
  • assists in production planning, record keeping, and reporting
  • reports needed maintenance, faulty equipment, or accidents to the supervisor immediately
  • attends in-service and safety meetings
  • maintains good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators, and managers
  • performs job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment
  • ensures proper presentation, portion control and maintenance of serving temperatures
  • follows HACCP standards
