The Cook- On Call role at MBK Senior Living is an essential part of the Dining Services Department, reporting directly to the Director of Dining Services. As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing food items in strict adherence to the provided recipes and planned menus, ensuring all meals meet nutritional standards and special dietary requirements. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and dining areas, managing food storage, and overseeing food safety protocols in compliance with government regulations. This position demands a high level of responsibility, including the supervision of servers and dishwashers, proper charting of food temperatures, and timely handling of food orders. Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Age over 18 years
Background clearance as required by government regulations
Retain a current food handlers permit
Minimum of two years experience cooking
Negative TB test results
Excellent communication skills including the ability to speak, write and read English
Ability to operate computer, necessary software programs such as word, email, excel, scanners, copiers, and fax machines
Ability to be professional at all times with other team members, residents, family members, and visitors

Job Duties

Arrive to work on time and prepared for your shift
Prepare all food items in accordance with planned menus and recipes provided and ensuring meals are appetizing, nutritional, and meets special dietary requests or requirements
Ensure all food is served at the correct temperature and charted as such
Ensure there is proper plate presentation
Consult with the Director of Dining Services on any menu changes or substitutions
Ensure food storage areas are clean and organized at all times
Prepare food in accordance with all governmental, sanitary, and dietitian regulations as well as established policies and procedures
Report any infractions to Director of Dining Services immediately
Take care of food orders when they arrive in a timely manner
Dispose of food and waste in accordance with established policies
Ensure all leftovers are properly stored, labeled, and dated
Record temperatures of refrigerators, freezers, and dishwashers
Responsible for cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas
May supervise servers and dishwashers
Prepare upcoming menu items ensuring they are stocked and pulled as directed by recipes
Responsible for safe storage and efficient use of all items within the kitchen's inventory
Promote a positive and friendly team work attitude
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Dining Services, Sous Chef, or Executive Director
