Job Description

LifeBridge Health is a leading health system dedicated to enhancing health outcomes for communities across the mid-Atlantic region. As a purpose-driven organization, LifeBridge Health is anchored by its mission to "improve the health of people in the communities we serve." The system includes over 14,000 employees, operates 130 care locations, and manages two million annual patient encounters. This expansive network encompasses five major centers in Baltimore, including Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, Grace Medical Center, Northwest Hospital, Carroll Hospital, and Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital. LifeBridge Health is committed to delivering exceptional care through innovation, strategic growth, and an unwavering dedication to community-centered healthcare.

The organization fosters a culture of CARE BRAVELY, where compassion, courage, and urgency drive decision-making and empower clinical teams to define the future of healthcare. Notably, LifeBridge Health actively supports diversity and inclusion, complying with applicable Federal civil rights laws and ensuring non-discrimination based on race, color, national origin, age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity/expression.

The opportunity at hand is a PRN (as-needed) Cook position within this dynamic health system. This role involves preparing and cooking food for hospital patients, staff, and visitors in adherence to management directives. The Cook plays a crucial role in maintaining the overall sanitation of the department, ensuring that all food preparation areas and equipment meet rigorous cleanliness and safety standards.

In this capacity, the Cook reviews production sheets to determine the types and quantities of food products required for preparation. They skillfully plan cooking schedules to optimize the use of ingredients and manage leftovers effectively, thereby minimizing waste. The role demands strict adherence to food quality protocols, emphasizing proper food preparation, handling, and sanitation techniques. Additionally, the Cook provides valuable support to the tray line operations, contributing to efficient and timely meal delivery throughout the hospital.

LifeBridge Health offers this position with an emphasis on impact, growth, and support. The employer values innovation and outcome-driven care, particularly in serving the most vulnerable patients. Professional development opportunities are available, including tuition reimbursement and foundational training in neonatal critical care leadership and certification. The culture encourages collaboration through resources such as unit-based practice councils and advanced clinical education support, aiming to enhance workflow efficiency and patient outcomes. The position also offers competitive compensation with possibilities for additional pay including overtime, shift differentials, premium pay, and bonuses, alongside comprehensive health plans, free parking, and wellness programs. This role is ideal for candidates seeking to contribute meaningfully to a respected healthcare system while advancing their culinary and healthcare foodservice skills within a supportive and innovative environment.
