Job Requirements
- Direct deposit and Social Security Card is required
- Meet qualification, eligibility, and background requirements for the position
- A one year probationary period may be required
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check
- Meet the local age requirement (18 years old)
- Complete a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training within 30 days of employment and 4 hours refresher training annually
- Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks including a medical examination
- May be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities
- Able and willing to work a schedule that may include nights, weekends, and holidays
Job Qualifications
- Work experience in preparing foods and cooking simple foods and short orders in a cafeteria, restaurant, or mess
- Demonstration of neatness and good grooming
- Dependability
- Ability to work under pressure
Job Duties
- Perform a full range of simple cooking tasks by preparing and cooking items that require little or no processing
- Prepare food by peeling, chopping, grinding, paring, cutting, dicing, pureeing, dredging, flouring, or breading
- Weigh, measure, and assemble ingredients for regular and modified menu items following precise recipes
- Cover, date, and store leftovers according to established procedures
- Operate a variety of kitchen equipment using gas, electricity, steam, or microwave heat sources
- Clean, store, and maintain all equipment and work areas after each use
- Follow established sanitation procedures when handling food, ensuring foods are stored at the correct temperatures to prevent bacteria growth
- Disassemble, clean, and assemble component parts and accessories, following safety procedures to avoid personal injury and damage to the equipment
- Use and clean a variety of cooking utensils
- Perform other duties as assigned
