As a Cook at Aramark, you will join a dynamic team dedicated to delivering excellent food experiences by embracing creativity and innovation in food preparation. The position involves setting up workstations, measuring and preparing ingredients, using kitchen tools and equipment like ovens, stoves, mixers, and slicers safely and efficiently. You’ll apply various cooking methods such as baking, roasting, broiling, steaming, and grilling to meat, vegetables, and other foods to achieve the best quality and taste. Presentation is also an important aspect of the role, requiring you to arrange, garnish, and portion food according to established standards.
In addition to culinary skills, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of the work areas, equipment, and utensils is essential to promote a hygienic and safe working environment. You will also demonstrate excellent customer service skills, maintaining a positive attitude toward guests, coworkers, clients, and other stakeholders. Adhering to Aramark’s safety policies and procedures is a top priority, ensuring food safety and security of company assets are effectively managed.
This role may have physical demands including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of walking or standing. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- experience as a cook or related culinary position
- knowledge of food preparation principles and food safety standards
- ability to obtain food safety certification
- basic math ability
- effective communication skills
- physical ability to lift, bend, push, pull and stand for extended periods
- willingness to wear uniforms and personal protective equipment as required
- adherence to safety and sanitation policies
Job Qualifications
- Experience as a cook or in a related role required
- validated knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as accurate food handling, sanitation, and storage
- must be able to acquire food safety certification
- demonstrate basic math and counting skills
- demonstrates interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
