The Cook position in the Okazuya department at Don Quijote Pearl City is an essential role that supports the food service operations by preparing both hot and cold foods with a particular focus on Hawaiian-style plate lunches, bentos, sandwiches, and salads. This position pays $18.25 per hour and reports directly to the Okazuya Manager. The role involves a variety of culinary tasks, including grilling, in-house cooking, scratch baking, quality control, and food packing. The Cook must be adept at working independently to complete simple food preparation tasks without assistance, as well as supporting other store functions such as restocking, cleaning, and maintaining kitchen sanitation standards.
This role demands a high level of physical endurance, as employees are often required to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items up to 40 to 50 pounds unassisted. Additionally, the Cook must be comfortable working in temperature extremes, from hot kitchen environments reaching over 100 degrees Fahrenheit to refrigerated and freezer areas. Mental acuity is also crucial; the Cook should be detail-oriented, organized, capable of multitasking, resourceful, and able to work well both independently and as part of a team.
Working hours are flexible and may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional extended shifts of up to 10 hours to meet operational demands. Job Requirements
- 18 years of age or older
- Must be able to safely lift 40-50 lbs unassisted, 51-100 lbs with assistance

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One-year external experience in a Cook capacity or one-year internal experience as a Prep Cook
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with others
- Good phone etiquette
- Possess acceptable written and verbal communication skills in English
- Accurately and efficiently complete work in a timely manner
