We are currently seeking a Food Service Cook to join our team at Lakeland Community Care Center, one of our esteemed facilities under CommCare Corporation. This pivotal role is integral to ensuring that residents receive nutritious, delicious, and safely prepared meals in compliance with the highest health and safety standards. As a Food Service Cook, you will be responsible for preparing meals according to planned menus and standardized recipes while maintaining sanitary conditions to guarantee quality and minimize waste. Your role also involves reviewing menus and work orders to determine food requirements, especially for therapeutic diets tailored to individual resident needs.
In this role, you will actively contribute to the smooth operation of the food service department, collaborating closely with other team members to ensure meals are prepared and served punctually with proper presentation standards. You will assist with meal deliveries, including loading and unloading items, and ensure that all food items are properly labeled and stored according to food safety regulations. Compliance with Mississippi State Department of Health sanitation standards is mandatory, and you will need to perform duties related to emergency drills and situations, including fire, hurricanes, and other emergencies, as outlined in the Disaster Response Playbook.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in a food service or cooking role
- Knowledge of Mississippi State Department of Health sanitation standards
- Ability to follow directions and work in a team environment
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently

Job Duties
- Prepares meals according to planned menus and standardized recipes in a sanitary manner to ensure quality with minimum waste
- Reviews food menus and work orders to determine the type and quantities of food to be prepared and to identify all foods required for therapeutic diets before preparation
- Preps, measures and mixes ingredients according to recipes
- Assists driver with preparation of meals and loading and unloading of items for delivery
- Portions and arrange food and distribute to waitstaff to be served
- Follows proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes
- Labels and dates all food items in accordance with food storage chart
- Receives, checks-in, dates and stocks deliveries in appropriate areas
- Ensure food products are cooked and served in compliance with Mississippi State Department of Health sanitation standards
- Performs the necessary duties for emergency drills and situations such as fire, fire alarms, hurricanes, and other possible emergencies as outlined in the Disaster Response Playbook
- Interacts with residents/clients and co-workers with patience, understanding and kindness in accordance with the CommCare Corporation mission and core values
