Working as a Cook, you are responsible for preparing, measuring, mixing, chopping, trimming, and cooking ingredients using various methods such as baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming. The role also involves setting up workstations with all necessary ingredients and equipment, following food safety policies, properly storing food, and maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen area. Safety is paramount at Aramark, with strict adherence to food safety guidelines and company procedures that protect both employees and guests.
Beyond technical cooking skills, the role requires good interpersonal communication skills, a positive attitude towards guests and co-workers, and the ability to maintain excellent customer service. Job Requirements
- Experience as a cook or in a related role required
- Validated knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations
- Must be able to acquire food safety certification
- Ability to perform physical demands including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and/or extended walking and standing
- Willingness to wear uniforms and/or use personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Job Qualifications
- Experience as a cook or in a related role required
- Validated knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as accurate food handling, sanitation, and storage
- Must be able to acquire food safety certification
- Demonstrate basic math and counting skills
- Demonstrate interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
Job Duties
- Cook and prepare a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes
- Set up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
- Prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items
- Safely use a variety of utensils including knives
- Operate equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, etc.
- Bake, roast, broil, steam, and use a variety of cooking methods on meat, vegetables, and other foods
- Arrange, garnish, and portion food according to established guidelines
- Properly store food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
- Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils
- Maintain excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
- Adhere to Aramark safety policies and procedures including accurate food safety and sanitation
- Ensure security of company assets
