The culinary associate position is essential to maintaining the exceptional standards of food quality, presentation, and safety that are the hallmark of the Gaylord brand. Responsibilities include preparing ingredients by portioning, chopping, and storing food, accurately following recipes and quality standards, and using kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers safely and efficiently. Culinary associates must test foods for doneness, monitor food quality consistently, and uphold sanitation standards by washing and disinfecting kitchen tools and areas meticulously.

Job Duties

  • Prepare ingredients including portioning, chopping, and storing food
  • Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients
  • Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality and presentation standards, and food preparation checklist
  • Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers
  • Test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently
  • Monitor food quality during preparation
  • Set-up and break down the work station
  • Serve food in proper portions onto appropriate receptacles
  • Wash and disinfect kitchen area, tables, tools, knives, and equipment
  • Check and ensure the correctness of appliance and food temperatures
  • Follow company safety and security policies and procedures
  • Report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to manager
  • Complete safety training and certifications
  • Maintain professional uniform and appearance
  • Protect company assets and confidentiality
  • Communicate clearly and professionally
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships
