Job Description
Panda Restaurant Group, Inc. is a renowned and family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept that has grown significantly since its inception in 1983 in Glendale, California. Today, it operates nearly 2,800 locations worldwide, making it the largest family-owned American Chinese dining entity in the United States. The company is deeply committed to delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences through an organization that values and inspires its employees to improve both their professional skills and personal lives. Panda Restaurant Group prides itself on fostering a vibrant and inclusive workplace culture rooted in strong family values, community impact, and equal opportunity employment. This dedication extends beyond their customers to include every member of their team, enabling employees to thrive in a supportive and fast-paced environment.
As a Shift Lead at Panda Restaurant Group, you will play a pivotal role in bringing the company's mission to life right in the heart of the restaurant. This leadership position offers individuals the chance to become central team members in a dynamic and rapidly growing environment. Shift Leaders at Panda are entrusted with the responsibility of supporting management to ensure excellent food quality, heartwarming service, and an inviting ambiance that customers can appreciate. This role involves leading team members during the shift, managing store operations, and maintaining high standards while fostering a positive and vibrant atmosphere for guests.
The Shift Lead position provides a comprehensive learning experience, allowing you to gain valuable operational management skills, hands-on food preparation expertise, and leadership abilities. During your shifts, you will actively participate in cooking and preparing Panda's signature dishes, ensuring the quality and consistency customers expect. This diverse role encourages personal and professional development, empowering Shift Leaders to grow their skills and support the growth of their colleagues. Your efforts significantly contribute to the overall guest experience by creating a welcoming environment and maintaining Panda’s reputation for excellence.
The role demands employees to work in a fast-paced setting, often handling multiple tasks simultaneously. It requires standing for extended periods, working in hot kitchen environments, and using specialized equipment like Chinese cook knives. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds and reach across countertops to serve customers is essential, as well as maintaining mental agility to adapt to changing priorities, manage conflicts, and communicate effectively. Panda’s Shift Leads are expected to embody the company’s values by showing passion for food, service, and teamwork consistently. This role is ideal for individuals seeking a career in the restaurant industry who enjoy a dynamic work environment and aspire to develop themselves and others while supporting a beloved American Chinese dining brand.
As an Equal Opportunity Employer, Panda Restaurant Group commits to an inclusive recruitment process free from discrimination based on any legally protected characteristic. They support reasonable accommodations for applicants and employees with disabilities to ensure everyone has an equal chance to participate in all phases of employment. This commitment makes Panda a welcoming place where diverse talents can succeed and feel valued in their professional journey. If you are passionate about culinary arts, customer service, leadership, or operational excellence, this Shift Lead role offers a meaningful opportunity to be part of a respected organization with room for growth and development.
