Job Description
Panda Restaurant Group, Inc. is a family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept founded in Glendale, California in 1983. Over the years, it has grown to become the largest family-owned Asian dining chain in the United States, with close to 2,800 locations globally. The company is dedicated to delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences and continuously strives to build an environment where employees feel inspired to better their lives. With a culture strongly rooted in family values, Panda Restaurant Group emphasizes a commitment to diversity, equal opportunity, and community impact. The organization embraces a welcoming environment that aligns with its mission of passion for food, service with heart, and pride in ambiance.
The role of a Panda Shift Leader is an essential leadership position within the restaurant. As a Shift Lead, you will play a pivotal role in supporting restaurant management to bring the company’s mission alive by fostering a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere for guests while ensuring smooth team operations during your shift. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in managing store operations, leading and developing team members, and gaining cooking skills by preparing Panda’s popular menu items. The Shift Lead position operates in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment where thriving under pressure, multitasking effectively, and maintaining high standards of food safety and customer service are key. You will develop a broad range of skills by taking on responsibilities that impact both the customer experience and the operational success of the restaurant. This hands-on leadership opportunity is ideal for associates looking to grow in the hospitality industry and contribute meaningfully to the Panda brand’s success.
The workplace involves high-energy operations, including working with hot steam tables, using kitchen equipment such as advanced knives, and lifting weights up to 50 pounds. The role requires physical endurance such as standing for extended time periods, effective verbal communication, conflict management, and adaptability in a dynamic environment where priorities frequently shift. Safety certifications like Food Handler certification may be required, based on local regulations, and are expected to be obtained at the applicant's expense. Panda Restaurant Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer dedicated to providing accommodations as needed for qualified applicants and employees to ensure inclusion and accessibility. This position not only offers the chance to be part of a respected brand with a rich history but also supports personal and professional development in the food service sector.
