Job Description

Panda Restaurant Group, Inc. is a renowned family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept founded in Glendale, California in 1983. Over the years, it has grown to become the largest family-owned Asian dining organization in the United States, with close to 2,800 locations globally. Known for delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences, Panda Restaurant Group embraces family values and is deeply committed to making a positive impact on its team members and the communities where it operates. This dedication to quality and community has helped Panda build a strong brand and a loyal customer base that values great food, warm service, and a welcoming ambiance.

The company’s mission centers on creating an inspiring workplace where people are motivated to improve their lives while delivering food with passion, service with heart, and ambiance with pride. It values diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity for all employees, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for everyone regardless of their background. Panda Restaurant Group is dedicated to complying with federal, state, and local laws regarding workplace accommodations and prohibits discrimination based on any legally protected characteristic.

The role of a Shift Lead at Panda Restaurant Group is vital in bringing the company’s mission to life within the restaurant. Serving as key leaders of the team, Shift Leads support management by managing store operations during their shifts, creating a vibrant and welcoming environment for guests, and ensuring quality in both food preparation and service. Working in a fast-paced and growth-oriented environment, Shift Leads gain valuable hands-on experience both in cooking Panda’s popular Asian dishes and in leading and developing the team.

This position offers a diverse array of opportunities for growth, from gaining leadership skills and operational management experience to developing a range of interpersonal and problem-solving abilities. Shift Leads are expected to handle important aspects such as maintaining food safety standards, supporting team cohesion, and delivering outstanding customer experiences that align with Panda’s core values.

Shift Leads must be able to work effectively in an environment where kitchen areas can be hot and noisy, requiring employees to stand for extended periods and perform tasks with speed and accuracy. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds and reaching across counters to assist customers. The position also requires adaptability to a dynamic and sometimes high-pressure workplace where priorities may change rapidly. Effective verbal communication and conflict management skills are essential to maintaining a positive working environment and excellent guest relations.

Panda Restaurant Group offers an equal opportunity workplace where all employees are wanted and valued. It is committed to accommodating qualified individuals with disabilities to ensure fair participation in the application and employment process. For candidates dedicated to learning and growing in the restaurant industry, this role provides an ideal platform to build a rewarding career with a supportive and family-focused employer.
