Job Description
Panda Restaurant Group, Inc. is a renowned and family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept that originated in Glendale, California, in 1983. Over nearly four decades, it has grown to become the largest family-owned Asian dining restaurant chain in America, encompassing close to 2,800 locations worldwide. The company is dedicated to delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences through a business model that places a high value on family, community, and employee development. Panda Restaurant Group believes that its people are the secret ingredient to its success and focuses on creating an inspiring environment where employees can grow personally and professionally while contributing meaningfully to their communities. The company culture embodies passion for food, heart in service, and pride in the ambiance offered to guests, creating memorable experiences across all its locations.
The role of a Shift Leader at Panda Restaurant Group is pivotal in maintaining and advancing the company’s mission and operational excellence. As a Shift Leader, you become a vital part of a dynamic, fast-paced, and growth-oriented environment where leadership skills, operational knowledge, and customer engagement converge. Shift Leaders support management in ensuring smooth store operations during their shifts by leading and coaching the team to provide outstanding service and food quality to guests. This role offers a unique opportunity not only to manage day-to-day tasks such as overseeing store functions and team coordination but also to gain hands-on experience in food preparation, especially cooking and presenting Panda’s signature menus. Shift Leaders play a central role in fostering a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere in the restaurant, directly influencing guest satisfaction and team morale.
In this role, you will develop a wide range of skills including leadership, team development, operational management, food safety, and customer interaction, providing a solid foundation for career advancement within the restaurant and hospitality sector. The position demands resilience and adaptability as you navigate the pressures of managing a busy kitchen and dining environment. From ensuring compliance with local food safety regulations and certifications to managing conflict and difficult situations effectively, the role is both challenging and rewarding. Shift Leaders are expected to be physically capable of enduring the demands of restaurant work, such as standing for extended periods, handling kitchen equipment, working in high-temperature and noisy environments, and lifting weights up to 50 pounds.
Panda Restaurant Group is also deeply committed to inclusivity and offers equal employment opportunities to all qualified individuals regardless of gender, race, religion, disability, age, or any other legally protected status. The company complies fully with the Americans with Disabilities Act and provides reasonable accommodations to applicants and employees, ensuring equitable participation in the workplace. Joining Panda as a Shift Leader means becoming part of a supportive family that values your contributions and supports your professional journey in meaningful ways.
