This particular role is for a Culinary Associate at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown. The position is full-time, non-management, and stationed onsite, offering a hands-on opportunity to develop and hone culinary skills while contributing to the hotel’s food and beverage operations. The Culinary Associate will engage in various food preparation tasks including ingredient portioning, chopping, cooking, and presentation in accordance with established quality and safety standards. This role also emphasizes ongoing learning and growth, with a partnership with Rouxbe Cooking School providing online culinary training accessible to associates at all levels. The training includes a variety of well-designed culinary lessons aimed to enhance job performance and career development.

The position requires attention to detail in food preparation processes such as washing and peeling fruits and vegetables, weighing and mixing ingredients, and operating kitchen appliances like ovens and grills. The Culinary Associate ensures food quality through taste testing and monitors kitchen conditions to maintain cleanliness and safety. Safety protocols and company policies must be strictly followed, with an active role in maintaining a hygienic work station and professional appearance. The Culinary Associate also supports an effective work environment by fostering positive relationships with team members and communicating clearly. Physical demands of the job include standing, sitting, walking for extended periods, and handling objects up to 25 pounds. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or G E D equivalent
  • At least 1 year of related work experience
  • Ability to follow recipes quality and safety standards
  • Ability to stand sit or walk for extended periods
  • Ability to reach bend twist pull and stoop
  • Ability to move lift carry push pull and place objects up to 25 pounds without assistance

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G E D equivalent
  • At least 1 year of related work experience
  • No supervisory experience required
  • Ability to follow recipes quality and safety standards
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to professional appearance and confidentiality

Job Duties

  • Prepare ingredients for cooking including portioning chopping and storing food
  • Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Weigh measure and mix ingredients
  • Prepare and cook food according to recipes quality and presentation standards
  • Operate ovens stoves grills microwaves and fryers
  • Test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently
  • Wash and disinfect kitchen area tables tools knives and equipment
  • Set-up and break down work station
  • Monitor food quality while preparing food
  • Serve food in proper portions onto proper receptacles
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional
  • Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures
  • Report maintenance needs accidents injuries and unsafe work conditions to manager
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others
  • Support team to reach common goals
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors
