Job Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • must have at least 6 months prior institutional cooking experience
  • possess a current Oregon Food Handler permit or be able to obtain one within 2 weeks of hire
  • must have CPR training and certification prior to start
  • must have current Adult First Aid Certification prior to start date
  • must possess a current driver’s license, pass DMV background check, and meet fleet safety criteria
  • must pass pre-employment drug screen, TB test, and background check
  • physical ability to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, reach, pull, and lift heavy objects
  • ability to climb stairs several times a day
  • adherence to drug-free workplace policy
  • adherence to agency nondiscrimination policies
  • ability to effectively interact with co-workers and clients from diverse backgrounds

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

  • ability to interact respectfully with diverse populations

Job Duties

  • Prepares and serves meals according to prescribed menu
  • ensures food is appetizing and sanitary
  • apportions food appropriately for adequate servings
  • maintains appropriate food temperatures and sanitary conditions
  • properly collects and stores or disposes of leftover food
  • plans menus that adhere to nutritional standards and budget
  • ensures compliance with sanitation, food handling, and storage regulations
  • maintains cleanliness of kitchen, dining, and storage areas
  • interacts professionally with clients, peers, and supervisors
  • maintains adequate inventory and manages stock orders
  • assists with facility needs including transportation and client support
  • ensures meals are served on time and kitchen cleanup is completed
  • adheres to privacy and confidentiality regulations
  • performs other assigned duties
