The University of Colorado at Denver, working in partnership with Sodexo, seeks a dedicated Cook II to join their dynamic culinary team on a full-time basis. This position offers an hourly wage ranging from $21 to $24.10 and requires flexibility with varying shifts and hours, with a preference for open availability. As a Cook II, you will play a crucial role in preparing and delivering nutritious and appealing meals across multiple meal periods including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special catered events. The role is not just about cooking but also about providing excellent customer service with a focus on teamwork and minimizing food waste. You will use your culinary skills and passion for food to help create positive dining experiences that brighten the day of those you serve. Responsibilities include following recipes, preparing hot and cold dishes, and supporting management with daily oversight duties when necessary. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 to 4 years of related cooking experience preferred
  • Availability to work varying shifts including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to follow recipes and food safety guidelines
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks
  • Commitment to punctuality and reliability

Job Qualifications

  • 3 to 4 years of related work experience preferred
  • Team-oriented and adaptable

Job Duties

  • Accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and cold food items for various meal periods
  • Read and follow basic recipes and product directions for preparing various food items
  • Prepare food and serve customers at an a la carte and operate a grill station
  • Support management in the daily oversight of key functions and employees
  • Attend work and show for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
  • Perform other duties as assigned depending on business necessities and client requirements
