At Lovelace Medical Center-Downtown, Sodexo is hiring a Cook II who will play a vital role within the dining services team by preparing nutritious and appetizing meals for patients, staff, and visitors. This full-time position offers a competitive pay range between $17.50 and $20.30 per hour, with work shifts primarily during the afternoon and evenings on varying days, details of which will be shared during the interview process. The Cook II is more than just a culinary professional; they are a team player focused on reducing food waste and enhancing customer satisfaction through quality meal preparation.

This role demands a strong passion for food, attention to detail, and a friendly attitude that brings warmth to those served. The Cook II will be responsible for preparing a diverse array of hot and cold dishes across multiple meals, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special or catered events. The job entails reading and following recipes accurately, handling portions effectively, and presenting food attractively. The individual may also operate a grill station, serve customers at an a la carte area, and assist management in overseeing daily operations when needed.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three to four years of related work experience preferred
  • Ability to work afternoon and evening shifts on varying days
  • Ability to follow food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and management

Job Duties

  • Accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and/or cold food items for various meal periods including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special/catered events
  • Read and follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing various food items
  • May prepare food and serve customers at an a la carte and/or operate a grill station
  • May support management in the daily oversight of key functions and employees during the normal course of business
  • Attend work and show for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
  • Perform other duties as assigned that may differ among accounts depending on business necessities and client requirements
