The role of Cook II at Sodexo, located at the University of Southern Indiana, is a part-time position offering an hourly pay range between $16 and $17.50. This position primarily involves working morning shifts on varying days, with some weekend and holiday shifts required. As a Cook II, you will be an important team player responsible for preparing and creating nutritious and appealing dishes while minimizing food waste. Working closely with colleagues and supervisors, you will execute your culinary skills with efficiency and care, always putting customer service at the forefront of your tasks.

Your daily duties will include preparing, portioning, cooking, and presenting a variety of hot and cold foods for multiple meal periods such as breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special catered events. You will follow recipes and product instructions to maintain consistency and quality. Depending on the specifics of your assignment, you may operate grill stations or serve customers directly in an a la carte setting. The role also requires you to support daily operational needs which may include assisting management with supervising key functions and staff during your shift. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior cooking or food preparation experience preferred
  • Ability to work flexible mornings, varying days, weekends, and holidays
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently in a team environment
  • Ability to stand for extended periods during shift
  • Food handler certification is a plus

Job Duties

  • Accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and/or cold food items for various meal periods including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special/catered events
  • Read and follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing various food items
  • Prepare food and serve customers at an a la carte and/or operate a grill station
  • Support management in the daily oversight of key functions and employees during the normal course of business
  • Attend work and show for scheduled shifts on time with satisfactory regularity
  • Perform other duties as assigned which may differ among accounts depending on business necessities and client requirements
