The Cook II position at UT Health San Antonio Multispecialty & Research Hospital represents an exciting opportunity for culinary professionals looking to join a full-time role with stable working hours and competitive pay at $18.00 per hour. This role is essential in delivering nutritious and appealing meals while maintaining high standards of customer service and food safety. The work schedule consists of morning to evening shifts with varying days and rotating weekends, providing a dynamic and engaging environment.
As a Cook II, you will be a vital part of the Sodexo team, actively participating in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of a wide range of hot and cold food items for multiple meal periods including breakfast, lunch, dinner, as well as special catered events. Your role goes beyond food preparation; you contribute to reducing food waste by preparing portions accurately and efficiently. Emphasis is placed on teamwork and attention to detail, ensuring that every dish meets the quality expectations and nutritional standards set by Sodexo and the healthcare environment.
The position also involves reading and following recipes and product instructions precisely to maintain consistency and customer satisfaction. You may be required to operate a grill station and serve customers in an a la carte setting, showcasing your culinary skills and ability to engage positively with guests. Additionally, there is an opportunity to support management by overseeing key functions and staff during your shift, further developing leadership and operational competencies.

- 3 to 4 years of related culinary experience preferred
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Ability to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, and rotating weekends
- Reliable transportation

Job Duties
- Accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and/or cold food items for various meal periods including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special/catered events
- Read and follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing various food items
- Prepare food and serve customers at an a la carte and/or operate a grill station
- Support management in the daily oversight of key functions and employees during the normal course of business
- Attend work and show for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
- Perform other duties as assigned that can differ among accounts depending on business necessities and client requirements
