The Cook II role at Day is a critical position within the food service team, responsible for preparing hot meals for patients, team members, and visitors onsite. The Cook II is accountable for maintaining accurate temperature logs for both food items served and kitchen equipment, ensuring adherence to health and safety protocols. The cook must be proficient in operating various kitchen equipment including slicers, mixers, grills, fryers, ovens, steamers, and steam-jacketed kettles without supervision.
Additionally, the position involves tasks such as gathering ingredients, pre-prepping, assembling, and cooking food items, following recipes precisely to meet specific serving numbers as outlined in production sheets. The Cook II also manages the presentation and holding of food on steam tables according to set diagrams, ensuring food quality and timely service. Safety and sanitation are paramount in this role; the cook must consistently follow safe food handling procedures, maintain kitchen cleanliness, and complete sanitation tasks as assigned. They are expected to actively participate in daily production meetings, in-services, and department meetings to stay updated on policies and improve operational practices. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Food service experience including cooking
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
