At OU Health - Edmond Medical Center, part of Sodexo's extensive network, the emphasis is on delivering high-quality food and customer service within a healthcare environment. Sodexo is dedicated not only to serving nutritious meals but also to fostering a team-oriented, safe, and supportive workplace where employees can thrive and make meaningful contributions. This full-time Cook II position offers an hourly pay range of $16.01 to $16.97 and involves working varying shifts, including days, hours, and rotating weekends, to meet the demands of the medical center's diverse meal schedules.
The Cook II role is integral to Sodexo's mission of enhancing the quality of life for those they serve through food services. This position requires a passionate team player who is focused on reducing food waste and delivering nutritious and appealing meals across multiple meal periods such as breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special or catered events. The Cook II will be responsible for the preparation, portioning, cooking, and presentation of a wide variety of hot and cold food items, ensuring that all operations meet Sodexo's standards for taste and quality. Attention to detail is essential as the cook must follow basic recipes and product directions accurately.
Beyond food preparation, the Cook II will occasionally operate a grill station and serve customers in an a la carte setting, adding a personalized element to the dining experience. Those in this role may also be called upon to support management by overseeing daily kitchen functions and guiding other employees during business hours, promoting a collaborative and efficient work environment. Reliability and punctuality are crucial for success, as employees are expected to attend scheduled shifts consistently and with a positive attitude.
Sodexo values diversity and inclusion, creating a workplace where all employees are respected and their voices are heard. The company fosters a culture that embraces individual differences and encourages personal and professional growth. Opportunities for ongoing training, development, and career advancement are available, making this more than just a job but a pathway to a rewarding career in food service. Sodexo also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, holidays, medical, dental, vision insurance, tuition reimbursement, a 401k plan, discount programs, and more. Some locations may extend additional benefits specific to their site, such as free meals during shifts, uniforms, safety shoes, and support for transportation or parking.
By joining Sodexo as a Cook II at OU Health - Edmond Medical Center, candidates become part of a purpose-driven company striving to make a positive impact on the lives of customers and employees alike. The role not only demands culinary skill and attention to food safety but demands compassion, teamwork, and a dedication to excellence in service delivery. This position represents an opportunity to build a career with a respected global organization while contributing to the wellbeing of a broad community through quality food service.
