The Cook II position at Sodexo, located at Sharp Grossmont Hospital, offers both full-time and part-time employment opportunities with a competitive hourly pay rate of $24.87. This role is vital within the hospital’s food service team, where the cook’s responsibilities contribute directly to providing nutritious, well-prepared meals that meet the dietary needs of patients, staff, and visitors. As a Cook II, you will have morning and afternoon/evening shifts, working varying days and participating in a rotation that includes weekends.
In this role, you will be more than just a cook; you will be a team player and an active participant in reducing food waste while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and quality. You will be entrusted with preparing and presenting a diverse array of hot and cold food items across multiple meal periods, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special catered events. Your ability to accurately follow recipes and product directions is crucial to maintaining consistency and meeting customer expectations. Additionally, you may have the opportunity to serve customers directly at an a la carte station or operate a grill station, enhancing the dining experience through your service and culinary skills.
The Cook II role also includes potential leadership opportunities where you may support management by overseeing key kitchen functions and assisting other team members during the normal business course. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 to 4 years of related work experience preferred
- Ability to work varying shifts including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and rotating weekends
- Strong communication skills
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle kitchen equipment safely
