Job Description

Texas Orthopedic Hospital, established in 1995, is a specialized healthcare facility that focuses exclusively on providing high-quality, cost-effective orthopedic care in a streamlined environment centered around wellness, mobility, and rapid recovery. Positioned as one of the few specialty hospitals in the United States dedicated solely to orthopedics, Texas Orthopedic Hospital offers all services within a single building, ensuring convenience and efficiency for patients and medical staff. The hospital is physician-owned in part and partners with Fondren Orthopedic Group, L.L.P., the largest and most comprehensive association of private orthopedic surgeons in Houston, as well as one of the largest in the nation. The hospital’s affiliation with HCA Houston Healthcare grants it inclusion in one of the most comprehensive families of hospitals in the region, all part of HCA Healthcare, the leading healthcare provider in the country.

HCA Healthcare has been widely acknowledged for its ethical standards, being recognized multiple times as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies by the Ethisphere Institute. The organization has demonstrated a significant commitment to charitable care, spending billions in uncompensated services to support uninsured and underprivileged patients. This commitment is reflected in the collaborative and supportive work environment at Texas Orthopedic Hospital, emphasizing employee investment and community care. With a workforce of over 270,000 dedicated professionals under HCA Healthcare, the institution promotes a culture of inclusivity, growth, and respect across races, religions, genders, orientations, and more.

The Kitchen team at Texas Orthopedic Hospital is currently seeking a Cook II to join their culinary staff. This role is integral to the hospital’s mission of delivering excellent patient care, ensuring that nutritious, well-prepared meals are made available to patients and staff alike. As a Cook II, you will work under general supervision to prepare, season, and cook a wide range of food items in appropriate quantities in accordance with established menus, recipes, and production guidelines. Your responsibilities will include maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment, adhering to HACCP and food safety standards, and utilizing proper equipment and systems to ensure quality food production. Communication with other production staff is essential to coordinate menu details, portion sizes, and recipes. Additionally, the role involves providing guidance and training to other kitchen employees performing similar duties.

This full-time position reflects Texas Orthopedic Hospital’s commitment to professional development, offering an enriching work environment supported by HCA Healthcare’s investments in employee success and wellbeing. The hospital provides a comprehensive benefits package that supports medical, dental, vision, and behavioral health needs, along with financial and educational resources, paid time off, family leave, and more. The Cook II position is ideal for individuals with experience in healthcare or quantity cooking who aspire to contribute to a mission-driven healthcare organization that values both its patients and its team members.
