The Cook II position at Sodexo, based at the Friends Home and Village location, is a part-time role ideal for individuals passionate about culinary arts and customer service. This role requires working afternoon and evening shifts with varying days and rotating weekends, reflecting the dynamic nature of food service operations. The hourly pay rate for this position is $18.00. As a Cook II, you will play a pivotal role in preparing nutritious and delicious meals while actively contributing to reducing food waste. You will be expected to accurately prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and cold dishes for different meal periods, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special catered events. Your responsibilities also include reading and following recipes, managing grill stations or a la carte services, and potentially supporting management in overseeing daily operations and staff.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 to 4 years of related work experience preferred
  • Ability to work afternoon and evening shifts including rotating weekends
  • Reliable transportation to and from work
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to stand for extended periods during shifts

Job Duties

  • Accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and/or cold food items for various meal periods including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special/catered events
  • Read and follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing various food items
  • May prepare food and serve customers at an a la carte and/or operate a grill station
  • May support management in the daily oversight of key functions and employees during the normal course of business
  • Attend work and show for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
  • Perform other duties as assigned depending on business necessities and client requirements
