Job Description

The Gunter Hotel, a historic landmark located in the heart of downtown San Antonio, offers a unique blend of rich tradition and modern hospitality. Established in 1909 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the hotel has been an integral part of the city's heritage for over a century. Known for its prime location near the famous river walk and the iconic Alamo, The Gunter Hotel provides guests with a distinctive experience that combines the charm of a bygone era with contemporary amenities. The hotel features popular venues such as Bar 414, a speakeasy-style bar offering craft cocktails, and Market on Houston, a dining spot celebrated for its fresh, seasonal dishes. Whether visitors are in town for business or leisure, The Gunter Hotel promises an exceptional stay and memorable dining experiences.

We are seeking a Cook II to join our culinary team, an essential role that involves preparing and supervising food across all dining outlets within the hotel. This includes the restaurant, café, room service, the employee cafeteria, and banquet services. As a Cook II, you will be the culinary captain in the kitchen, responsible for ensuring that every dish served meets the highest standards of quality, presentation, and taste. Your role will require not only culinary expertise but also leadership skills to guide kitchen staff, maintain smooth operations, and proactively anticipate and resolve potential challenges.

The ideal candidate thrives under pressure, brings creativity and passion to their craft, and is committed to delivering unforgettable dining experiences. You will be expected to manage time efficiently, keep the kitchen impeccably organized according to sanitation and safety standards, and communicate clearly with both coworkers and guests. This full-time position comes with a competitive benefits package after an initial waiting period, including daily pay options, medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as retirement and disability benefits. If you're ready to lead with flavor and finesse while enhancing the culinary reputation of The Gunter Hotel, we invite you to apply and showcase your talents in this exciting opportunity.
