Job Description

UTMB Health League City Campus Hospital, in partnership with Sodexo, is seeking a dedicated Cook II to join their team. Sodexo is a global leader in food services and facilities management, committed to improving quality of life and fostering healthy, safe, and inclusive work environments. The hospital is a key healthcare provider in the League City area, delivering comprehensive medical services and emphasizing patient care excellence. This commitment extends to their food services personnel, who play a vital role in providing nutritious, delicious meals tailored to meet the diverse needs of patients, staff, and visitors.

Working as a Cook II at this location means being a part of an organization that values more than just a job; it is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the community’s wellbeing. The position is full-time, with a set pay rate of $16.00 per hour. The work schedule includes mornings, afternoons, and evenings on varying days, including some weekends and holidays. This diverse schedule supports the continuous food service operation necessary in a hospital environment.

As a Cook II, you will be a core member of the culinary team, focusing on food preparation with an emphasis on quality and efficiency. You will be responsible for preparing, portioning, cooking, and presenting a variety of cold and hot foods for multiple meals throughout the day—breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special events or catering functions. This role requires someone who follows recipes accurately and maintains a consistent standard in food presentation and hygiene.

In addition to cooking, you may operate a grill station or prepare made-to-order meals, adapting to the needs of customers and hospital staff. The role also includes supporting daily supervisory tasks under management direction, helping ensure smooth kitchen operations. Attendance and punctuality are critical, as this job is essential to the hospital’s service delivery.

Working for Sodexo at UTMB Health means you will join a company that encourages teamwork, reliability, and a safe working atmosphere. Selected candidates typically bring 3 to 4 years of relevant cooking experience and a positive, adaptable attitude that supports a healthy workplace culture. Sodexo prides itself on offering opportunities for ongoing training, career advancement, and a comprehensive benefits package that supports employees’ wellbeing and work-life balance.

Benefits for this position include paid time off, holidays, medical, dental, and vision insurance, tuition reimbursement, 401k retirement plans, and various discount programs. Additional site-specific perks may be available, such as free meals during shifts, uniforms, safety shoes, transportation assistance, and parking. Sodexo values each team member’s unique contributions and promotes diversity, inclusion, and respect across all levels of the organization.

Overall, this Cook II role is ideal for someone looking to advance their culinary career within a supportive, mission-driven healthcare setting. The position offers the chance to make a positive impact daily through food service while growing professionally in a respected global company dedicated to improving life for all its stakeholders.
